Preaching Jesus

Check out this sermon by the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, current president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  I agree with the Facebook friend from whom I first encountered it: this is one of the best sermons I've ever heard, and I wish we had leaders in the Episcopal Church who were willing to talk like this!

Makes me glad to be an LCMS Lutheran. Wow- great Law/Gospel! Wish I'd hear it every week! (Our past Vicar was pretty good, as is one of our pastors... the other pastor... maybe not the best sermons)

Speaking of me... I was baptized in the Anglican Catholic Church, raised Baptist (and rebaptized- I guess Baptists don't believe in "one Baptism for the remission of sins"), went to a Christian college with a strong Calvinist bent, took my first full time job in a remote area and worshiped at the only church available- Roman Catholic, married a Methodist, and now we are members at an LCMS church.
I consider myself an evangelical catholic and hope to stay in conservative, liturgical Lutheran or Continuing Anglican churches for the rest of my life.

Thanks for the encouragement and wisdom provided on this blog.
God Bless
